Basement Flooring

Typically, basements are below ground level and built with concrete slabs. Concrete basements are prone to moisture and water vapor migrating up through its porous surface. During the warmer months of the year, humidity and condensation are additional areas for concern. Humid air is heavy, and it will sink to the lowest area of your home – being your basement. Once that moist air reaches the commonly cold surface of the concrete slab, it creates condensation.

You might think your basement flooring is dry and unaffected. However, mold and mildew growth can still be harboring underneath the surface.  The bottom line? Unprotected concrete flooring is subject to environmental concerns that can lead to deterioration of the concrete itself.
